Qualcuno se ne sarà accorto, la ragazza protagonista che accompagna questo spoken words è un volto già noto ai seguaci delle scorribande di Ivo De Palma in formato You Tube, la ricorderete infatti negli art work che accompagnavano Remainders ( Reminders) Of…Love… che facevano da corollario alle parole poetiche di Stefano Lorefice, poeta navigato nell’underground letterario del nord Italia, lì dove in quell’occasione già un feeling particolare univa in video Ivo e lei, Giuliana Mendez che in questo nuova performance è anche autrice della poesia recitata in vesti di una dichiarazione d’amore in formato “Come dire a qualcuno che l'ami, with his own words ... ". Conosco Giorgio da quando lavoricchiavo nelle radio della mia città e lui già faceva esperimenti con i suoni: non saprei dire se nel nostro studiarci a distanza prevalesse,all’epoca, la curiosità, la diffidenza, o un atteggiamento di reciproca sufficienza. Di sicuro non l’indifferenza. Ma io giunsi molto più tardi ad un rapporto più consapevole,attivo e produttivo, con i miei interessi, nel frattempo traslocati dalla musica all’arte drammatica, mentre Giorgio poté approfittare molto prima di un’indole che abbinava alla
curiosità il gusto del fare, del mettersi in gioco e, soprattutto, in piena epoca new wave, dello sperimentare. Rifiuto degli sterili purismi, azzardo degli accostamenti arditi, reinvenzione, nelle chiavi sonore a lui più congeniali, di matrici lontane, nel tempo e nello spazio, gusto per il dotto riferimento o per la citazione popolare, che improvvisamente sembra colta solo perché è lui a suonarla: tutto questo si deve alla straordinaria ricettività di quegli anni, che perdura tuttora, insaporita dall’esperienza. E se il concetto di contaminazione stilistica oggi appare un po’ scontato, è perché negli ultimi vent’anni artisti come Giorgio Li Calzi lo hanno reso familiare, creando innumerevoli precedenti.
